Goal Setting for Your Future th grade lessons Monday, January 11, I had the opportunity to spend 3 days in the 8th grade classrooms. Teachers had asked if I could talk to them about perseverance and getting ready for high school and their future. After debating for several days about what to teach, I finally decided on setting goals, academic success skills, and how long is a lifetime.
Then, I had them set their own. Afterwards, I had them do an activity. We played 4 Corners. I set these signs in each corner of the room and had the students begin by gathering in the center of the room. I asked them to move to the corner of the room that would be most like them after each statement I read.
These are some of the statements I read to them: After I was done reading all the statements, I had them take their seats and we discussed the activity. What did we do in this activity? Did anything surprise you when we did this activity? What do you understand better about yourself having played 4 corners? What did you learn?

The mandate of the organization is to offer quality Social and Emotional Learning SEL programs to empower middle and high school students to reach their potential and achieve academic success. INSPIRE mentoring programs encourages self-esteem, healthy relationships, respect, positive choices, mental wellness, resilience, mindfulness and leadership. The organization’s vision is to provide programs, first in Texas then throughout the United States.
About our Approach INSPIRE classroom mentoring programs work with local schools to help determine their specific student issues and address them in the weekly programs. These two issues go hand in hand when helping students become successful and contributing members of society. Without goals, resilience and hard work, students will suffer academically.
Without positive coping skills, students are at risk for depression, suicide, substance abuse, unhealthy relationships and other issues that would limit their success.

July 20, By Patricia A. Whether they are new drivers or new writers, rattled people need to calm down. The feedback they receive can make things better or worse. Sometimes new drivers or writers who have the most need of improvement are least able to absorb multiple commands. Here are some suggestions for how to give more useful feedback on written drafts—and what to avoid.
Disheartened writers have no doubt heard all this before, but they may be too confused, frustrated, or disengaged to learn.
The Visionary Who Saw the Future of Technology. During the younger years of the computer industry, he already saw its potential to grow and decided to take up programming courses which he knew would take him to the top of the game.
Thanks for joining me today. I am super stoked here. I think that goal setting is the most spiritual practice. I think it is the most compassionate, wonderful thing we can do for ourselves. I feel like that takes me out to the present moment and pulls me into more of a unacceptance of where I am in that. I am always wanting to teach people to stay connected to themselves. I always wanted my clients to feel their feelings.
I think we can and I think we should be in our present moment accept to this present moment and allow ourselves to dream and set goals from a place of abundance. That my friends is the problem. That is really important to remember. If happiness comes from our mind and from our thinking, then achieving something or gaining a future goal at some future moment is not going to increase our capacity for happiness, and that you must understand.

Development[ edit ] A medieval baker with his apprentice. The Bodleian Library, Oxford. The system of apprenticeship first developed in the later Middle Ages and came to be supervised by craft guilds and town governments. A master craftsman was entitled to employ young people as an inexpensive form of labour in exchange for providing food, lodging and formal training in the craft. Most apprentices were males, but female apprentices were found in crafts such as seamstress , tailor , cordwainer , baker and stationer.
We have pretty much the same goals for our two middle school girls! My daughter is also a rising 7th grader, and preparing her for high school is definitely heavy on my mind.
Vitellius 69 The Roman Empire “officially” begins by tradition in 27 BC when Octavian receives the title “Augustus” — which then becomes the name by which we know him. We might think that the Empire, Imperium, begins with Augustus becoming Emperor, Imperator, but that is not the case. Imperator simply means “commander,” and this had long been in use with a specific meaning. An imperator was someone with a military command and imperium, which meant both military and civil authority in the area of his command.
This made Julius Caesar essentially the dictator of Gaul , once he had conquered it. That was dangerous, indeed fatal, for the Republic; but in those terms Julius Caesar began the creation of the Roman Empire already as an “emperor. It accompanies the institutional changes that were effected or completed by Augustus. The institution thus created now gets called the “Principate,” from Princeps, “Prince” literally, “comes first”.
The idea of the Principate is that the forms of the Republic are retained, and the Emperor superficially is simply still an official of the Republic. Augustus was not a king. He did not even hold the Republican office of Dictator, as Julius Caesar had.

After completing the budget development process, I appreciate the opportunity to share how we arrived at the spending plan on which district residents will have the opportunity to vote this May 16th. It began with a discussion of our priorities at an August Board of Education meeting and gelled into three goals. First and foremost was to develop a plan that provides students and staff what they need to address the academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs that will help us move closer to our vision.
We engage all students with the diverse opportunities and academic experiences they need to reach their maximum potential. Our students thrive in an environment of high expectations, collaboration and respect. Effective communication and sustained connections foster a sense of importance, contributing to the success of every student every day.
